  • 1 block (16 oz) extra firm tofu
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • Juice and zest from 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • 12 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • Olive oil
  • Lemon pepper seasoning
  • Garlic
  • Black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Press and drain tofu, then cut into 1-inch cubes.
  3. Toss tofu with soy sauce until coated; then add cornstarch, breadcrumbs, and lemon pepper seasoning.
  4. Spread tofu on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by whisking together lemon juice and zest, vegetable broth, honey or maple syrup, black pepper, salt, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and cornstarch in a small pot. Simmer until thickened.
  6. Once baked, let tofu cool slightly before tossing it in the sauce.
